Panier sucre (F3B Colmar 2014)

F3B Colmar is first FAI WC/Eurotour F3B European contest in season 2014. I will start from the end-price giving. On many contest you can obtain very original prices. Somewhere you will get coffee cup, somewhere you can win bottle of good wine, at Gator you can win gator head and at Colmar everybody got lovely chocolate F3B glider. Sweet idea-I always appreciate nonconformist invention (like at Czech F3F Rana Open 2014 and banquet).

Saturday. Hazy, low clouds, no wind. Not easy conditions. Who was flying speed around 16sec and distance over 21; he was king of battlefield.

Sunday. Clear blue sky and a bit of wind 1-2m/s. Sometimes strong thermals. Maybe I’m wrong but Denis Duchesne was flying 34 distance laps(?) and there were some sub 14sec speed runs also.

The best stay the best regardless of bad/good conditions. Congratulation to Daniele Amici, Andreas Herrig and Andreas Kunz. Results at www.f3b.de(PDF)

Guys from Aeromodele Club Jean Mermoz Colmar conducted by Jacky Kohler, Krust bros. made nice relaxed job. Thank you.

Just one F3B rule footnote. Imagine following scenarios.

Distance.

1. Pilot A is after flying time (4mins), but still in working time (7 mins) and slowly landing. Suddenly hits another pilot B model which is still within flying time (4 mins). B has right to have reflight and in case that model is damaged he can take/use 2-nd model, perhaps no question. Pilot A perhaps will have no right for reflight, but model is damaged. Can he take 2-nd model for next task in not completed round? In my opinion yes, he can.

2. Both pilots A nad B are after flying time but within working time. They have midair. Both models are damaged. Do they have right for reflight? No. They can take 2-nd model for next task in not completed round? In my opinion yes, they can.

3. …and the most controversy situation. Both pilots A nad B are after flying time and after working time. They have midair or even ground/landing collision. Both models are damaged. They can take 2-nd model for next task in not completed round? Mmmm, if it’s witnessed by CD (?) and there was no evident intention to „simulate“ midair or collision, in my opinion yes, they can take new models.

For sure, in general we can object, that models were damaged out of any regular task working time. Same as we will take two models in depo and we say we had collision. No this is against common sense and that’s not same situation. My two cents…

Take care. Seya in Kirchheim.
