F3B WC Update #20

OK, I’m at Laiwu (after deadly delays in flight Prague -Frankfurt. Reason? Flight Dispatcher strike. Earning poor 120.000 EUR/year, 50 days of holidays etc., I would strike also). Yesterday visiting Opening and Pricegiving ceremonies areas. Also watching outdoor LED display (4,16mx1,92m) and solving some technical issues.

As regards, customs clearance of already shipped stuff. Organizer is waiting to collect all of  boxes (together with CIAF Fiesta stuff; big aerobatics airplains etc.) and make it in one step. Therefore, don’t worry that you will not get your stuff in China in time (mainly for you Johnson).

Today (it’s 03:25 am, can’t sleep, shit) also solving official invitation letter and hotel reservation. This you will maybe need for Visa applying (mainly for you Sylvain).

From social point of view this comming F3B Worlds will be definitely the biggest ever, but I’m more focused to under which conditions we will fly here, this is my mission. So, today going to airfield, curious what happened there. Once, after several liters of beer I will tell you the whole story, you will not believe…

P.S. More than 35°C and 95% humidity, lying under AC device, trying not to die…

Pricegiving ceremony area. Underwater restaurant etc.

  • Dear Roman,
Is the low visibility or haze in the photo from fog or rain?
Is the cell phone system in Jinan/Laiwu China working OK for you?
Can we use cell phones from the flying field?

    • Hi Gordon,
haze is from fog. About this phenomena I was asking several times since my first visit in May. I was assured that this is not the case in September.

My European/Czech SIM card and Samsung Galaxy S pohone is working without problems. Anyhow, I’m using local SIM card (China Mobile) bought at Beijing International Airport. Just ask your mobile provider in Australia if your SIM card (roaming) and mobile phone is compatible with Chinese cell network. I wouldn’t expect any troubles.

Starting at least one week before WC I’m planning to have my Chinese mobile phone number active for emergency call from anybody of you. My Chinese Mobile number is +(86)182 103 542 75.
